Colonials push across winning runs in final at-bat of both games
FLEMINGTON, N.J. - For the second time in as many days, GW baseball took both ends of a doubleheader from Lehigh, this time dispatching the Mountain Hawks, 4-3 and 13-9, at Diamond Nation.
In the process, the Buff & Blue secured their first weekend sweep since a three-game brooming of St. Bonaventure on May 10-11, 2019. It also marks the first four-game series sweep for GW since doing so against Dayton in 1996.

The Colonials fell behind 2-0 early in the bottom of the first, but fought their way back to earn their first one-run victory of the season.
GW took the lead in the top of the fourth thanks to an RBI single from Eddie Micheletti, a bases-loaded walk to Derek Ripp and an RBI fielder's choice from Tyler Hix, making it 3-2.
After Lehigh tied the game in the bottom of the sixth, GW came right back in the seventh to take the lead. Cade Fergus led off the frame with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and raced home on an RBI double from Steve Barmakian.
Keagan McGinnis came on in the home half of the frame to strike out the side, securing his first save of the season.
Noah Levin was perfect at the dish, going 2-for-2 with two walks and a run scored. Micheletti picked up a multi-hit affair as well. Justin Solt started for the second time in less than a week, striking out eight without a walk in four innings. Trevor Kuncl (1-0) earned the win in relief.

Once again, GW roared back from an early deficit to finish off the four-game sweep. The Buff & Blue faced deficits of 4-0 after two innings and 9-4 after six before erupting for nine runs in the final two at-bats to pull out the win.
Ripp started the comeback in the fourth, doubling home GW's first run of the game before scoring on an RBI groundout from Micheletti. The Colonials tied the game later in the frame thanks to a two-run error.
Trailing 9-4 going to the eighth, GW sent nine to the dish to even the game. Jay Kalieta singled home the first run of the frame before a wild pitch and sac fly drew the Buff & Blue to within 9-7. Levin then came through with a two-out, two-run bomb to square things at nine.
In the ninth, GW pushed across the go-ahead run on an error and added a run on a passed ball. Levin then provided extra cushion with a second straight two-out, two run knock, this one a single to make it 13-9.
McGinnis was called upon for the second time in the day and worked around two baserunners to pile up two more strikeouts en route to his second save.
Kevin Sylvestri (1-0) earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief for GW, striking out two. Offensively, Levin was 3-for-6 with the four two-out RBIs. Kalieta, Barmakian, Hix and Ripp all notched multi-hit games.
The Colonials will look to run their win streak to five in a row on Wednesday afternoon, hosting Coppin State at 2:30 p.m.
