Buff and Blue secured fifth straight victory
Fresh off a four-game sweep of Lehigh, the Buff and Blue edged in front vs. the Eagles on Anthony Frechette's two-run single in the fourth inning and then put the game out of reach by adding on five runs over their final two at-bats.
Frechette finished with two hits and two RBIs to pace a balanced offensive attack that included hits from seven student-athletes and RBIs from six. Reigning A-10 Player of the Week Noah Levin stayed hot, reaching three times, including an RBI triple, plus three runs scored.
Jaret Edwards picked up his second victory of the season with three spotless innings of relief before first-year Christopher Kahler closed it out by pitching the final four innings to pick up his first career save.
After Coppin State picked up a run without a hit in the top of the first, Levin tied it with his third extra-base hit of the young season, this one a triple to the left field fence.
The score stayed there until the fourth when Frechette's knock up the middle brought home Cade Fergus and Cole Beeker to give the home side the lead.
It was 5-1 in the seventh when the Buff and Blue added on three more thanks to RBI hits from Derek Ripp and Beeker. They'd pick up two more in the bottom of the eighth, capitalizing on a pair of miscues by the Eagles.
GW is back at The Tuck this weekend for three games vs. Saint Joseph's. The Colonials and Hawks are slated to play a single game on Saturday before a Sunday twin bill.
