Despite a comeback in the ninth inning, the George Washington baseball team suffered a 7-5 defeat on Friday to Dayton in 11 innings, falling to 18-34 on the season and 9-20 in the Atlantic 10.

The game started as a pitcher's duel, as neither starter allowed a run through the first four innings. Dayton was first on the scoreboard in the fifth, using a two-run home run to take a 2-0 advantage.

The Flyers made it 3-0 with another run in the top of the sixth, but GW answered right back with an RBI single from Charlie Walsh in the home half of the inning to make it 3-1.

Dayton added runs in the seventh and ninth to make it 5-1, but four runs in the bottom of the ninth for GW tied the game and sent it into extras. Lavey got the rally started with a two-run double to right field, followed up by a Cristino Tufano sacrifice fly to center field. Brodie Freker knotted the score at five on an RBI single to left field, plating Lavey.

After both teams went quiet in the 10^th, Dayton plated two runs in the 11^th to secure the victory. Declan Wywoda tossed seven innings for GW, allowing three earned runs and striking out five. Drew Harris took the loss for GW after pitching three innings in relief and allowing two earned runs.

GW celebrates its senior class tomorrow during a pregame ceremony slated for 11:20 a.m. First pitch for the season-finale is set for 12:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
