Baseball Completes Series at Dayton

The Flyers' offense started hot once again, plating six runs on two homers over the first two innings. Dayton tallied a two-run homer in the first, then registered a grand slam in the second to extend the lead.
After GW got one back off an Ellis Schartz double in the third, Dayton answered back with another two-run homer in the bottom half of the inning.
The Revolutionaries notched two runs in the fourth, scoring the first off a wild pitch and the second via an RBI double from Charlie Walsh to get GW within four at 8-4. Ty Acker tallied GW's fifth run of the day an inning later, skying a sacrifice fly to center field to score Jude Clough.
Dayton added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth, making it 9-4 Flyers heading to the sixth. Both teams went scoreless over the next two innings before GW attempted a comeback in the eighth. Charlie Rogan put two on the board with a double down the left field line, and Tyler Jones got the Buff & Blue within one with a two-run jack of his own.
GW threatened to tie the game in the ninth, having runners on second and third with two outs but were unable to push across the equalizer. Teddy Brennan was charged with the loss for GW, moving him to 0-3 this season. Walsh led the Buff & Blue offense with three hits, two runs scored and an RBI.
GW returns to Tucker Field on Tuesday, hosting VMI at 3:00 p.m. for the program's annual Jackie Robinson Day. Prior to first pitch, GW will present the Jackie Robinson Award to a player within the program who exhibits the attributes of the legendary sports hero who broke the Major League Baseball color barrier over 75 years ago.
