Frechette drives in three in defeat
UVA scored in six of its eight at-bats, including multiple runs in five frames. The Cavaliers scored four runs in the first inning and increased their lead to 9-0 after four innings.
GW cut into the deficit in the top of the fifth with four runs. Steve DiTomaso plated the first Colonial tally of the day with an RBI single and scored along with Sam Gates and Eddie Micheletti on a three-run double from Anthony Frechette.
That would be as close as GW would get as the Wahoos piled on five runs in the home half and added four more in the sixth and two final tallies in the seventh.
Frechette led GW offensively with two hits and the three RBI. DiTomaso scored twice and added two hits and Gates also collected a multi-hit game.
GW will return home for a mid-week matchup on Wednesday vs. Maine. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
