Baseball Goes Down Hard vs. Binghamton, 17-8
3/12/2023 6:09:00 PM | Baseball
After spotting Binghamton a 12-0 lead in the top of the first inning while recording just one out, the deficit was just too massive to overcome. GW tried behind the bats of Eddie Micheletti Jr. (4-for-5), Alexander Wright (3-for-4) and Noah Levin (2-run HR), and drew to within 13-7, but Binghamton piled on four more runs to render any comeback attempt moot.
After Micheletti walked off Binghamton yesterday, his hot-hitting included a double, run scored and RBI Sunday. Wright, for his part, continued to swing a hot stick and gave GW its first multi-run tally with a two-run tater in the bottom of the sixth to draw his squad within 13-3.
Levin made it 13-5 in the bottom of the seventh with a two-run homer of his own, as GW scored four times following the seventh-inning stretch, but could get no closer than the six-run gap.
Colin Ruddy was a bright spot in relief for GW on the mound, hurling 3.2 scoreless innings.
The sledding gets no easier for GW this week with a Tuesday visit to No. 6 Virginia for a 4 p.m. first pitch in Charlottesville.
