WASHINGTON - GW men's tennis opened its season with a thrilling match Saturday against BYU, ultimately seeing the match come down to a pair of three-set matches. However, the visiting Cougars found a way to win in both instances, earning a 4-3 victory at the Southeast Tennis & Learning Center.

BYU claimed the doubles point with victories at #1 and #3. GW did earn a win at #2 with Ethan Jacobs and Ryan Navarro claiming a 6-3 triumph. It was one of two wins for Jacobs in his GW dual match debut, also winning at #3 singles, 6-4, 6-7 (7-5), 6-2.

Sophomore Zicheng Zeng and senior Jakub Behun won in straight sets at #2 and #6 singles, respectively, to account for GW's other two points.

The Buff & Blue continue their season-opening four-game homestand on Friday by welcoming crosstown foe Howard to the SETLC. First serve is set for 12:45 p.m.
