Former UNCW captain joins staff
WASHINGTONÂ - GW men's tennis head coach Rob Castille announced on Wednesday the addition of Agus Savarino to the team's coaching staff as a graduate assistant.
"I am excited to add Agus to the coaching staff this year," Castille said. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience having played for four years at UNCW as well as competing on the ATP tour.
"He won two conference championships during his career at UNCW and was named team captain after one semester. Those experiences will make Agus a great addition to the team and I can't wait to work alongside him."
Savarino earned his degree in Business Administration from UNCW in 2019, graduating with a 3.9 GPA. He earned Colonial Athletic Association All-Academic honors all four years and was named an ITA Scholar-Athlete three times. On the court, Savarino helped captain the program to back-to-back CAA championships in 2017 and 2018 and earned the team's leadership award his final three years on campus.
"I am very excited to join such a prestigious institution," Savarino said. "Coach Castille and the players have been doing an outstanding job, and I am looking forward to working with them and adding value to the program."
A native of Mar Del Plata, Argentina, Savarino is a former No. 1 ranked junior player in his home country. Since graduation, he has worked for Deloitte as a consultant in the financial services industry. He will pursue a master's degree in finance at GW.
