Men's Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Team Award

Six Colonials named ITA Scholar Athletes
WASHINGTON -Â Following an impressive year in the classroom, the GW men's tennis program was honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Monday by being named an All-Academic team.
Individually, six student-athletes - Dennis Afanasev, Ben Barnett, Ethan Jacobs, Hanyu Liu, Ryan Navarro and Lawrence Sciglitano - were tabbed as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). The Colonials posted a 3.668 team GPA for the 2019-20 school year, including a department-best 3.80 GPA in the spring semester.
Individually, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of at least 3.50 for the current academic year. Navarro led the team for the second straight year with his 3.94 cumulative GPA.Â
