Colonials win final two singles points for comeback win
COLLEGE PARK, Md. - GW men's tennis rallied for its third straight victory on Friday morning, topping crosstown rival Georgetown, 4-3.
The Colonials dropped all three doubles matches but secured the victory with four singles wins. Sophomore Lawrence Sciglitano and senior Jakub Behun delivered straight-set victories to start at #4 and #5, respectively. Georgetown then claimed wins at #6 and #3 to take a 3-2 edge.
The Buff & Blue then relied upon their top two to complete the comeback, each earning three-set wins. Sophomore Zicheng Zeng won a tiebreak in the second set before rolling to a win in the third at #1. Classmate Ethan Jacobs then won a 7-5 third set at #2 to give GW the win.
Winners of three straight road matches, GW will return to action next Saturday, March 7, for a match at Longwood. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
