Coming off the program's first-ever sweep of VCU, the George Washington baseball team looks to stay hot, battling Georgetown on the road this Wednesday and hosting Davidson for a three-game series starting on Friday. Wednesday's meeting with the Hoyas is set for a 6:00 p.m. first pitch on MuscoVision, while this weekend's series with Davidson will start on Friday at 3:00 p.m. and extend into Saturday (1:00 p.m.) and Sunday (12:00 p.m.).
Georgetown, which enters the week with a 22-18 overall record, picked up a series win over Butler last weekend, taking two of three games against the Bulldogs. The Hoyas hold a 4-5 mark in the Big East thus far and fell to GW early this season at Tucker Field by a score of 10-9 on March 4. Wednesday's game will also allow GW to play at Capital One Park in Tysons, Va., the host site for the 2026 Atlantic 10 Championship this May. GW is squarely in the mix for a berth into the tournament after last weekend's sweep against VCU.
Georgetown is led by Head Coach Edwin Thompson, who's in his sixth year with the program. The Hoyas' offense is paced by Jeremy Sheffield, who's batting a scorching .367 from the plate in 39 games. Sheffield had 58 total hits and has driven in a team-best 39 RBI. Connor Peek is slashing .361 from the dish with a team-high 43 total hits, driving in 38 runs and scoring 43 of his own. Georgetown's 2026 stats can be found here.
This weekend's series against Davidson also marks two annual celebrations at The Tuck. Prior to Saturday's game, the Warren Fulton III Memorial Award will be bestowed upon a member of the program. The award is in memory of Warren Fulton, a GW baseball alum who tragically lost his life during his senior season in 1988. Fulton was the team captain, leading base stealer and was batting .367 when his life was abruptly cut short. Every year since, the GW baseball program has presented the Warren Fulton Memorial Award to the player who best exemplifies the spirit, teamwork and sportsmanship that was displayed by Warren.
On Sunday, GW will host first responders for Hometown Heroes Day, with area firefighters, EMTs and police expected to be in attendance. Patrons will have the opportunity to explore a firetruck and police cruiser in the parking lot while welcoming local first responders to Tucker Field. Afterwards, all children in attendance will get the opportunity to run the bases and meet the team as part of Kids' Day.
Davidson enters the week with a 20-17 overall record, coming off a series win at Saint Louis last weekend. The Wildcats took the first two games of the weekend set before the Billikens bounced back for a 7-2 victory on Sunday. Prior to facing GW, Davidson will host Radford on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
Davidson is led by Head Coach Rucker Taylor, who's in his eighth season as skipper and 14th year with the program overall. The Wildcats' offense is led by Matt Manjooran, who's hitting .340 on the year with 48 hits and 42 RBI. He leads the team with 10 doubles and has scored 24 runs as well. Davidson's pitching staff is anchored by Cooper Cavanaugh, who's made nine starts with a 4-2 record. He holds a team-best 4.12 ERA, tallying 45 strikeouts across 38.2 innings of work and holding opposing batters to a .181 average. Davidson's complete 2026 stats can be found here.
