Baseball Stumbles in Series Finale at UMass

AMHERST, Mass. – The George Washington baseball team dropped its series-finale matchup with UMass on Sunday afternoon, 16-3, snapping the Revolutionaries' six-game winning streak. GW moves to 24-19 on the season and 11-10 in A-10 play.
The Minutemen jumped on GW right from the start, posting eight runs in the first inning to take a commanding lead. UMass added four more in the third and three in the fourth to stretch its lead to 15-0 before GW plated its first run.
Ellis Schwartz got the Buff & Blue on the scoreboard in the fifth, tallying a two-run home run to right-center, scoring Charlie Walsh as well. Greg Marmo recorded GW's final run in the seventh, tallying an RBI on a fielder's choice.
Graham Jeffries took the loss on the mound, moving him to 1-2 on the season. Aidan Carey tossed 0.2 scoreless innings in relief, recording one strikeout.
GW returns to action Tuesday, hosting Towson at 1:30 p.m. for the team's final midweek contest at The Tuck this season. Follow live stats of the matchup at GWsports.com.
