The Tigers scored two runs in the second, third and fourth innings to stake themselves to a 6-0 cushion, plating five of the six runs with two outs. Four of the runs came off GW starter Jonas Aponick, who was dealt his first loss of the year after allowing all six runs on seven hits in 3.1 innings with a strikeout and a walk.
GW scratched across a run in the last of the fourth via an RBI groundout from Cristino Tufano only to see the Tigers push the lead back to six in the next frame.
The Buff & Blue continued to rally against Towson's bullpen, scoring three times in the fifth on a bases-loaded walk to Conlon Walker and a two-run single from Charlie Walsh to cut the deficit to 7-4. An inning later, Robbie Lavey brought in a run with a sac fly and Josh Wenz delivered a pinch-hit RBI single to make it 7-6, but the potential tying run was caught between third and home to end the rally.
Towson went back up by two in the seventh and GW left the bases loaded in the bottom of the inning in its last true rally of the game. The Revolutionaries ended up leaving 13 runners on base in the contest.
Walsh and Ellis Schwartz posted multi-hit efforts on the day with Walsh driving in a pair in a 2-for-5 showing.
GW is back on the road in A-10 play this weekend, traveling to Davidson for a three-game series with the Wildcats. First pitch in Friday's series opener is scheduled for 5 p.m. with live coverage available on ESPN+.
