
Baseball Welcomes Georgetown, Maine for Four-Game Week

WASHINGTON – The George Washington baseball team returns to Tucker Field this week for four home games. The Revolutionaries host Georgetown on Tuesday for a mid-week clash against the Hoyas, then welcome Maine for a three-game series beginning on Friday.
Tuesday's matchup with crosstown foe Georgetown is slated for a 2:30 p.m. first pitch in Arlington. The Hoyas, who enter the week 3-4 overall, are led by fifth-year head coach Edwin Thompson. Georgetown is slated to start righty Johan Franco, who's made one appearance this season. Franco tossed 1.2 innings in relief against George Mason. Franco allowed three earned runs in the appearance and struck out two batters.
Offensively, the Hoyas are led by Jeremy Sheffield with a .407 batting average in 27 at-bats. He's notched 11 total hits, with four for extra bases and eight RBI. He's drawn four walks, giving him an on-base percentage of .500. Dylan Larkins holds a .381 batting average this season with eight hits. Larkins has six RBI on the season and a team-best on-base percentage of .517.
Maine lands in the DMV this weekend with a 2-5 overall record after winning two out of three games against The Citadel last weekend. The Black Bears are guided by Nick Derba, who's in his fifth season at the helm of the program.
