WASHINGTON – The George Washington baseball team concludes its 13-game homestand on Tuesday afternoon with a matchup against cross-town foe Georgetown. First pitch against the Hoyas is slated for 2:30 p.m. from Tucker Field.
LAST TIME OUT
GW hosted Canisius last weekend, the third-straight, three-game weekend home series in a row for the Buff & Blue. After dropping Friday's series opener 5-2 to the Golden Griffins, the Revolutionaries had their Saturday contest postponed due to inclement weather in the DMV area. That resulted in the contest being moved to Sunday, where it became a doubleheader with the regularly scheduled game from that day.
On Sunday, the Buff & Blue captured game one, using four runs in the eighth inning to secure a 5-3 come from behind win. In the series rubber match, Canisius got the best of the GW Revs, winning by a final score of 4-2. Max Haug picked up the win for GW in game one on Sunday, tossing 0.1 innings in relief, but being the pitcher of record when GW went on its eighth inning run. Haug moves to 2-0 on the year with the victory. Brandon Siegenthaler collected the save for the Revolutionaries, his first of the season, after closing out the ninth inning 1-2-3. He struck out two of the three batters he faced to secure the win for GW. Siegenthaler has enjoyed a successful start to the season, appearing in five total games and pitching 11 innings. He holds an ERA or 1.64 and has given up only two earned runs all year. He has 12 total strikeouts and holds a record of 1-0 after earning the win over UAlbany on March 3.
