Declan Wywoda and Jack Kent have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Baseball Team, the organization announced.
Â
Selected by College Sports Communicators, the award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances both on the diamond and in the classroom. In order to be eligible, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.50 GPA, be at least a sophomore academically and meet high athletic standards as well.
Â
Turning in a 3.73 GPA with a major in Mechanical Engineering, Wywoda enjoyed his sophomore season as a member of GW's weekend starting rotation. He made 14 starts in 2026, finishing with a 2-4 record and a 5.64 ERA. Wywoda struck out 38 batters, 25 of which came in A-10 games, while also finishing with five or more strikeouts in two games this season. Arguably Wywoda's best outing of the season came on March 1, allowing just one hit in six innings of work in a home win against Saint Peter's. He also earned a big road win against eventual A-10 Champion VCU, allowing just two earned runs in six innings of work to stifle the Rams.
Â
Kent finished his graduate season at GW with a 3.64 GPA, earning his Master's Degree in Interdisciplinary Business Studies. Kent slotted into the leadoff spot in GW's lineup for the bulk of the 2026 season, appearing in 49 games and making 45 starts. He finished the season with a .260 batting average, tallying 46 total hits. Kent finished second in the Atlantic 10 in at-bats with 255 and led GW with nine stolen bases on the season.
