Baseball Walked Off By SLU in Series Finale, 9-8

A wind-blown day in midtown Saint Louis was pushing the ball out to left, and the pitchers paid the price in the 17-run affair. Two-time A-10 Pitcher of the Week Chris Kahler didn't have his best stuff Sunday, but also did not factor in the decision after the game went to extra innings. When GW didn't score in the top of the tenth, the stage was set for SLU's win. The winner came on a hit-by-pitch, after a walk, fielder's choice and intentional walk loaded the bases.
Kohn and Frechette both had two RBIs in the contest, while Alexander Wright joined Kohn with a pair of hits, including a double. With the setback, GW fell a game behind the seventh-seed in the A-10 standings, with seven teams set to partake in the conference championship tournament later this month. That seventh place team is in the form of nearby rival George Mason (9-8), who comes to GW this weekend for the penultimate conference weekend of the regular season from Friday, May 12th - Sunday, May 14th.
GW gets a tuneup before that contest when another local rival, Georgetown, wraps George Washington's non-conference slate on Wednesday at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park with first pitch coming at 3 p.m. on ESPN+.
