Colonials and Retrievers square off at 6 p.m.
WASHINGTON - GW baseball will begin the month of May with a quick trip on Tuesday evening to take on UMBC. First pitch from Baltimore is scheduled for 6 p.m.
LUCKY 13: Eddie Micheletti Jr. has hit safely in 13 consecutive games entering Tuesday night, one shy of tying for the 10th-longest stretch in program history. More impressively, Micheletti has registered an astounding 25 multi-hit games in 44 games this season, already the most for a Colonial since Dom D'Alessandro's 28 in 2019.
Micheletti continues to lead the A-10 in hits with 69, ranks second in batting average (.385) and doubles (16), and is third in total bases (107) and fewest strikeouts per at-bats (10.5).
A LOOK AT THE RETRIEVERS: UMBC is 22-19 on the year and 11-7 in the America East following a series victory at Binghamton over the weekend. The Retrievers enter play second in the AEC in scoring at 7.1 runs per game and with a staff ERA of 6.51, fourth-best in the loop.
Tony Kreuger sits just outside the top-100 nationally with a .366 batting average while Leewood Molessa has rocked 14 home runs with 55 RBI, both among the top 60 in the nation.
SERIES HISTORY: GW holds a 37-20 mark all-time against the Retrievers. The Buff & Blue won the lone meeting last season, a 2-0 triumph behind 7.2 shutout innings on the hill from Logan Koester. GW is making its first trip to Baltimore since an 11-6 victory in 2019.
