Arlington, Va. -- In the series-deciding game on Easter Sunday at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park, GW baseball fell to their A-10 counterparts Richmond, 13-3.
The game was tied at two heading into the sixth inning when Richmond took a one-run advantage, sending the game into the seventh with the visitors leading by a run, 3-2. That's when the floodgates opened and the Spiders brought home 10 runners in the last three innings, topped by a seven-run outburst in the seventh.
Richmond pounded out 17 hits compared to GW's seven, and also got the benefit of three George Washington errors and five free passes.
Chris Kahler went six innings on the mound as the Buff and Blue's starter, giving his team a chance, gritting through without his best stuff to limit the Spider damage to four runs.
At the plate, Anthony Frechette and Bryan Belo both knocked an extra-bagger and had an RBI apiece, while Steve DiTomaso had GW's other RBI in his two-hit day.
GW will look to forget about this quickly ahead of two midweek games. First a battle at Towson looms Tuesday with first pitch coming at 3 p.m., before the club returns home Wednesday to host Delaware at 3 p.m. on ESPN+.
