Buff and Blue launch four dingers to win A-10 opener
GW fell behind on a first-inning homer for the Flyers but responded quickly with three runs in the top of the second. Bryan Belo put the Colonials in front with a two-run single and Sam Gates followed up with an RBI of his own to make it 3-1.
Noah Levin added to the lead with his 20th career home run, which also served as his 200th career hit and 150th career RBI. Levin is just the ninth player in program history with 200 hits and 150 RBI.
The home run parade continued for GW with a two-run shot in the fourth from Tim Nicholson, a solo blast from Eddie Micheletti and two-run dinger from Michael Kohn in the fifth to extend the cushion to 9-3.
Robby Wacker and Kohn provided cushion with a pair of RBIs in the seventh to avoid any Dayton potential comeback.
Logan Koester earned the win with six solid innings on the hill, allowing five runs on five hits to improve to 2-2 on the year.
The Buff and Blue will now look to win the series on Saturday with game time now scheduled for 11 a.m. due to expected inclement weather.
