Barsky tops singles flight, three doubles pairs claim flight titles

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - GW men's tennis posted a strong showing to start its fall season at the Joe Hunt Invitational over the weekend with each student-athlete finishing with a winning mark overall.

Sophomore Michael Barsky was one of two Colonials to advance to his flight championship in singles play, coming out on top with a three-set win over Temple's Michael Haelen to share the Orange Flight title. Classmate Lawrence Sciglitano advanced to the final with a perfect 3-0 round robin before falling in the championship of the Blue Flight.

The Colonials had a dominant showing in doubles with three of the four pairs posting 4-0 marks. Sophomores Ethan Jacobs and Ryan Navarro shared the Red Flight title with classmates Ben Barnett and Zicheng Zeng as both won their de facto championship matches.

Sciglitano and senior Jakub Behun won their flight championship against Lukas Linden Malmberg and Martin Estevarena of St. Bonaventure in the White Flight after going 2-1 in round robin play.

The Buff & Blue return to Annapolis for their next tournament, the Navy Blue Invite, from Oct. 11-13.
