Baseball Wraps Up Homestand with Saint Joseph's

Colonials host second straight A-10 foe to begin league play
WASHINGTON -Â GW baseball's seven-game homestand, and a home-heavy month of March, comes to an end this weekend as the Colonials host Saint Joseph's for a three-game Atlantic 10 series at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park. Game times are set for 3 p.m. on Friday, 1 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. Sunday with all three games streamed on ESPN+.
BUFF, BLUE & BBQ:Â The highlight of the weekend will be a pregame tailgate for baseball alumni and fans held prior to Saturday's middle game. The event is scheduled to begin at noon with admission free for baseball alumni and family. Young GW alumni and children under 12 can purchase tickets for $10 while non-baseball alumni tickets are $15. More information is available here.
LAST TIME OUT:Â A power surge ran through Barcroft Park on Tuesday as GW and UMBC combined for 26 runs and 31 hits in a 14-12 victory for the Retrievers. GW hit four home runs, including two from senior Dom D'Alessandro, to set a new single-game-high in the Gregg Ritchie era (since 2013). GW also registered 19 hits to set a new season best.
THE MAN ON TOP:Â Junior Nate Fassnacht saw his 17-game hitting streak come to an end on Sunday, but bounced back in fine fashion on Tuesday with a two-hit day that featured his third home run of the year. Fassnacht continues to pace the NCAA with 15 doubles and is also top 20 in the nation in runs, hits and on-base percentage.
DOM-INANT AT THE DISH:Â Dom D'Alessandro's four-hit day on Tuesday was his second such multi-hit affair this season and team-leading 12th multi-hit day of the year. D'Alessandro connected on his first career multi-homer day on Tuesday and drove in five for the second time this year. He also paces the squad with eight multi-RBI games.
ABOUT THE HAWKS:Â Saint Joseph's is 10-11 overall this year, but swept its opening A-10 series against George Mason by a combined scored of 43-17 last weekend. The Hawks are in the top half of the league when it comes to hits and runs, and are led by a quintet of regulars hitting over .300. Nate Thomas is the team's top hitter at .354 with two homers and 13 RBI. On the hill, St. Joe's holds a 4.70 team ERA with two of the team's primary starters holding sub-4.00 ERA's.
