Colonials host Delaware State Tuesday, travel to Coppin State Wednesday
WASHINGTON - GW baseball wraps up its 16-game homestand on Tuesday afternoon when it hosts Delaware State before heading to Coppin State on Wednesday for its lone road game of the month of March. Both games are scheduled for a 3 p.m. first pitch.
OVER THE WEEKEND: The Colonials snagged two of three from Iona, winning Friday and Saturday before the Gaels salvaged the series finale. GW's offense once again was the star of the show with 36 hits in the three games, 13 of which went for extra bases. Senior Dom D'Alessandro was 8-for-13 in the set while first-year Noah Levin accounted for eight RBI.
AMONG THE BEST: GW's potent offense has placed the team in elite company this season, averaging 8.5 runs per game, ninth best in the NCAA. The Colonials also rank in the top 25 in triples (11, 4th), doubles (44, 13th), on-base percentage (.411, 15th), batting average (.308, 18th), runs (153, 21st) and hits (206, 23rd).
Individually, junior Nate Fassnacht is tied for the nation's lead with 12 doubles, while also ranking in the top 20 in on-base percentage (.579, 5th), runs (28, 8th), triples (3, 13th), total bases (55, 15th) and slugging percentage (.786, 18th).

IT TAKES TWO: The Colonials defense turned six double plays over the weekend, four of which came in the first four innings against Iona on Friday. GW now leads the nation with 27 twin-killings on the year, averaging a preposterous 1.5 double plays per game.
ABOUT THE HORNETS: Delaware State comes to the Tuck with a 5-11 mark on the campaign following a sweep at the hands of Norfolk State over the weekend. The two teams were set to tangle earlier this year, but had the game postponed due to inclement weather. Miguel Rivera is the top threat offensively, hitting .400 in 10 games for a team batting .215 overall.
ABOUT THE EAGLES: Coppin State is 9-6 on the year after sweeping Maryland Eastern Shore over the weekend to open MEAC play 3-0. The Eagles bat an impressive .300 as a team, headlined by Corey Treyes' .412 clip in 14 games. Justin Banks has blasted four home runs and is hitting .391 as part of a team that has four regulars batting .320 or better.
