Colonials open up first season under head coach Rob Castille
WASHINGTON -Â GW men's tennis opens its season with an A-10 conference matchup on Sunday, hosting La Salle at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center at 12 p.m.
AT THE TOP:Â The Colonials are under the direction of first-year head coach Rob Castille, who joined the program in October after spending the last five years at St. Francis (PA). Castille is no stranger to the A-10, having previously coached for seven seasons at Duquesne from 2005-12.
FRESH FACES:Â Six of GW's nine players on its roster are first-years and will be a part of their first collegiate dual match on Sunday. The group performed admirably in the fall, compiling a 51-35 record in singles meets and a 17-8 mark in doubles play.
ABOUT THE EXPLORERS:Â La Salle began its season 0-2 last weekend with losses to A-10 foe Fordham and to Drexel in non-conference action. The Explorers and Colonials have not met since a 2012 A-10 Tournament match that GW swept, 5-0.Â
