
Men's Tennis Heads to ITA Atlantic Regional

Colonials clash with region's best in Charlottesville
WASHINGTON -Â GW men's tennis is right back in action following its weekend at the Navy Blue Invite, traveling to Charlottesville, Va., to take part in the ITA Atlantic Regional beginning Thursday.
LAST TIME OUT:Â Over the weekend, sophomore Ben Barnett claimed the White singles flight championship with a 3-1 record, besting Navy's Finn Garner in the championship match. Sophomores Ethan Jacobs and Ryan Navarro swept their way to a doubles title in the White flight, dropping just six games in their four matches.
FORMAT:Â The Colonials will have all nine student-athletes competing in the main singles draw that features the best 256 players in the region. Every singles competitor is guaranteed at least two matches with a consolation match for those that drop a first-round match.
In doubles, GW will have three teams competing in the 64-team draw, again at single elimination. The finalists of each event qualify for the ITA National Fall Championships.

HISTORY IN THE EVENT:Â Senior Jakub Behun had the greatest success in the event a year ago, advancing to the round of 32 with victories of Alejandro Rodriguez-Vidal of Duquesne and William & Mary's Sebastian Quiros. Barnett and classmate Zicheng Zeng each earned their first career ITA win at the event last year.
