WASHINGTON - The George Washington baseball team outhit visiting Georgetown by an 8-3 margin but was unable to maintain a 2-0 lead as the Hoyas rallied to earn a 3-2 victory over the Colonials on Tuesday afternoon at Tucker Field.

Sophomore Brady Renner, returning from injury to make his first appearance of the season, got the start for GW and threw two scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts.

GW (8-13) jumped out to a two-run lead after scoring twice in the bottom of the second inning. Junior Andrew Selby led off with a bunt single and advanced to second on a base hit by classmate Bobby Campbell. The pair each advanced a base on a sacrifice bunt by sophomore Brandon Chapman.

Sophomore Matt Cosentino was next up and gave the Colonials a 1-0 lead on a RBI groundout. Junior Eli Kashi followed with a RBI single to extend the lead to 2-0.

Georgetown (11-10) tied the game in the top half of the third when Michael Derenzi doubled home a pair of teammates who had previously reached base on back-to-back, one-out walks.

The Hoyas then scored what amounted to the game-winning run in the top of the fifth inning on a fielding error.

GW threatened twice in the later innings but was unable to tie the score. A leadoff single was stranded on second base in the seventh inning and strikeout-throwout double play ended the eighth.

Junior Joey Bartosic notched his team-leading 11th multiple-hit game of the season by going 2-for-4. Junior Mark Osis also went 2-for-4 at the plate.

Selby's single in the second inning extended his current reached-base streak to 20 consecutive games.

GW will visit Houston for a three-game series this weekend, with games being played Thursday-Saturday. Senior Bobby LeWarne will start game one on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
