CHARLESTON, S.C. - The George Washington baseball team concluded its three-game series at Charleston Southern with a 12-1 loss in the rubber game on Sunday afternoon at CSU Ballpark.
GW (8-12) got multiple-hit efforts from junior Joey Bartosic (2-for-3) and sophomore Mark Osis (2-for-3, RBI) but it was not enough to overcome a trio of multi-run innings by Charleston Southern (10-10).
The Buccaneers scored five runs on four hits and one error across the first two innings to build a 5-0 lead.
The Colonials got one run back in the top of the sixth on an RBI single by Osis, but CSU responded with a seven-run seventh inning to extend the lead to the final 12-1 tally.
Senior Jacob Williams suffered his first loss of the season after yielding five runs (four earned) on seven hits with three walks and one strikeout in five innings of work.
GW returns home to host Georgetown on Tuesday afternoon. First pitch at Tucker Field is scheduled for 3 p.m. The Colonials beat the Hoyas in both meetings last season.
