Baseball Rides Young Arms to 4-1 Win Over Navy
4/14/2026 6:34:00 PM | Baseball
The George Washington baseball team used a stellar performance from GW's bullpen to secure a 4-1 win over Navy on Tuesday afternoon. The win improves GW to 13-22 on the year, while Navy drops to 22-14.
Â
Prior to first pitch, Gavin Miller was honored as the team's annual Jackie Robinson Award recipient. Miller becomes the 25th different member of the program to be selected, dating back to its inception in 2002.
Â
Both offenses got going early as Navy tallied one run in the first, but the lead was short-lived as first-year Travis Peitz launched a towering solo home run to left field to tie the game back up.
Â
GW captured a 2-1 lead in the third inning via a sacrifice fly from Brian Archer, a lead the Buff & Blue wouldn't give up the rest of the day. The Revolutionaries added on in the sixth on a sacrifice fly to score Charlie Walsh and tallied its fourth and final run of the day on a bloop single from Archer to center field.
Â
However, the story of the game was GW's young bullpen, which combined for seven shutout innings to secure the win. After Henry Knighton allowed one run in two innings of work as the starter, the combination of Liam Thyen (3.0 innings), Brad Marks (3.0 innings) and Jasper Nadel (1.0 innings) kept the Navy offense quiet. Thyen earned his first win of the season, moving to 1-1 on the year, while Nadel picked up his first save of the season.
Â
GW now turns its attention to a three-game series at VCU, which kicks off Friday at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
