Baseball Travels to VMI, Hosts George Mason in Upcoming Action

WASHINGTON – Following a thrilling series win last weekend at Rhode Island, the George Washington baseball team is set to play four games over the next five days. The Buff & Blue kick off the week with a matchup against VMI on Wednesday, battling the Keydets at 6:00 p.m. in Lexington, Va. Over the weekend, the GW Revs welcome fellow DMV foe George Mason for a three-game A-10 series beginning on Friday. Games on Wednesday and Friday will be available to stream on ESPN+, while live stats will be available for all four games as well.
The Buff & Blue enter the week 12-11 after a thrilling three-game series at Rhode Island last weekend. After dropping the series opener, GW bounced back for two come-from-behind wins against the Rams to capture the team's first series win of the conference slate. Sunday's victory was highlighted by an improbable comeback in the ninth inning that saw GW score four runs with two outs to take a 10-9 lead and stun the Rams. Jude Clough delivered the go-ahead hit, a bases-clearing double that scored three runs and put the Revolutionaries on top for good.
Saturday's game against the Patriots will serve as GW's Youth Day at Tucker Field. All fans aged 12 and under can run the bases and receive autographs from GW players and coaches. Admission and parking are free to all fans for the entire 2025 season.
SCOUTING THE KEYDETS
VMI enters the week 16-8 overall after taking two of three games against Western Carolina over the weekend. Similar to GW, the Keydets lost the opening game of the series on Friday but bounced back for wins on Saturday and Sunday. Wednesday's matchup with GW will be VMI's first game against an A-10 opponent this season.
Sam Roberts is in his third season as head coach of the program, amassing a 69-66 record thus far in his tenure. Since taking over after five years as an assistant, the Keydets have been extremely aggressive on the bases, leading the nation in stolen bases last season (178) and ranking first this season with 134 through the team's first 24 games. VMI also led the nation in batting average a season ago, finishing with a combined mark of .322 at the plate. The Keydets lead the nation in walks this year with 202 and on-base percentage at .481.
Offensively, VMI has five players batting over .300 on the year, with Bradley Garner leading the way. Garner is batting .395 thus far with 30 hits, 32 RBI, 30 runs scored and 24 walks. He ranks second on the team with a .533 on-base percentage and has 16 stolen bases on the season. Owen Prince is just behind at a .365 average. He's recorded a team-best 31 hits to go along with 37 runs, 23 RBI, 30 walks and a team-high .545 on-base percentage. Prince leads the nation in stolen bases with 32 on 39 attempts.

Shawn Camp is in his third season as skipper of the program, holding a combined record of 73-67. Camp has guided the program to the eighth-best team batting average in the nation this season at .329, and the Patriots are also seventh in the country in on-base percentage at .444. GM leads the conference in runs scored (254), hits (286), RBI (217) and stolen bases (63).
James Quinn-Irons leads the team in batting average, slashing a monster .434 from the plate with 43 hits, 35 runs and 36 RBI. His slugging percentage sits at .727, and his on-base percentage is at .525. Owen Hull is hitting .374 this spring with 34 hits and 29 RBI, while Owen Clyne sits at .364 and 32 hits. On the mound, Connor O'Hara leads the way with a 3-1 record. He's started in seven games for the Patriots this season and boasts a 1.29 ERA in 35 total innings.
