Baseball Comes Up Short in Game Two at USC

Sophomore Charlie Rogan got the Buff & Blue on the scoreboard first, plating Jude Clough on an RBI single in the second. Later in the frame, Nick Mullen collected his second RBI of the season on a groundout to short, scoring Ellis Schwartz from third.
In the fourth, Schwartz recorded his first homer, and GW's second of the season, with a two-run shot to right field to cut the deficit to 6-4. After USC added one more in the fifth, first-year Charlie Walsh tallied his first two collegiate RBI, driving in Clough and Robbie Lavey on a single up the middle.
Trailing 9-6 entering the eighth, the Buff & Blue recorded two more runs, the first coming on a sacrifice fly from Rogan, and the second via another RBI single from Walsh, who burst on the scene in his first collegiate start. Unfortunately, the GW Revs couldn't muster any more offense to tie the contest and fell, 9-8.
Clough led the way for GW with a 4-for-4 performance at the plate, including four runs scored. Walsh went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Cristino Tufano finished with a 2-for-5 line and a run scored. Schwartz notched two RBI and two runs scored as well.
On the mound, Teddy Brennan was charged with the loss after tossing four innings in his first start of the season. Brennan struck out five batters and allowed six earned runs. Andrew Cutler dealt 2.2 innings in relief, punching out two batters and giving up three earned runs. Cade Davis was spotless in his 1.1 innings of work, striking out two hitters and sitting down all four batters he faced.
