Sam Gates hit a towering home run to pace the GW Revs bats Sunday.

After averaging 11 runs in splitting the first two games of a weekend set vs. Bryant, GW was confident the bats would deliver again in the rubber match. Sparked by leadoff hitter Sam Gates, the offense left no doubt, though southpaw hurler Teddy Brennan didn't need much support in the 16-3 series-winning victory at Tucker Field.

Brennan authored a beauty, dominating the Bulldogs over seven innings of two-run ball, just one earned. The junior scattered six hits and issued just two free passes while fanning 10 in his first win of the season.

The bats allowed Brennan to be lifted entering the eighth, after pouring on seven runs in the bottom of seventh to turn a 9-2 affair into a 16-2 laugher. Max Haug and Jarrett Korson finished off Bryant to end it, with Bryant's tally in the ninth being unearned.

The game started in fine fashion on a beautiful but brisk day at Barcroft Park. After Brennan held Bryant off the board in the top of the inning, the GW Revs plated three in the bottom, which would prove to be all Brennan would need.

Gates then broke it open in the fourth, launching a ball high into the Arlington sky, clearing the right-field wall with ease to put George Washington up 6-1. The sophomore star finished 4-6 with three runs scored and five RBIs, as one of six on the home side to record a multiple-hit day in George Washington's 17-hit attack. Shortstop Nick Mullen was 3-5, while Steve DiTomaso, Robbie Lavey, Bryan Belo and Jude Clough had a pair of knocks. Robbie Wacker, McGwire Tuffy, Clough and Ellis Schwartz all had 2-RBI days to join Gates in a day of superb run production. GDUB scored multiple runs in four different innings.

After taking the series and improving to 2-4 on the young season, GW looks for its first winning streak of 2024 when UMBC visits The Tuck Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
