Teddy Brennan gave GW a quality start Saturday.
Baseball Drops Middle Game vs. Richmond, 7-3

Arlington, Va. - GW baseball got a quality start from first-year lefty hurler Teddy Brennan on Saturday, as the frosh from Glen Cove, N.Y. gave his club six innings of two-run baseball. The game was knotted at two apiece heading into the eighth, but Richmond put five on the board across the last two innings and escaped The Tuck with a 7-3 win heading into tomorrow's Easter Sunday rubber match at noon.
The Buff and Blue got off to a quick start scratching across a run in its first at bat after Anthony Frechette singled to left to score Sam Gates. The Spiders evened the game at one in the top of the third before that man Gates stepped to the plate once again in the bottom half of the inning. The sophomore star promptly barreled one over the fence in right to stake George Washington to a 2-1 lead.
Richmond answered back in the fifth with a single run before getting to the bullpen in the eighth for four tallies. While a Michael Kohn bomb in the bottom of the inning trimmed GW's deficit to 6-3, it was too-little, too-late, especially after the Spiders tacked on an additional run in the ninth. The home team went down quietly in their last at bat, setting the stage for tomorrow's series-deciding game.
Frechette finished 3-for-4 to lead the GW offense in hits. Gates, Steve DiTomaso and Robby Wacker also notched multiple knocks as part of an 11-hit attack.
On the bump tomorrow is junior righty Chris Kahler of Coral Springs, Fla., opposed by Jeremy Neff and his 1.54 ERA. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
