Micheletti extends hitting streak to 11 in a row
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - GW baseball fell short in its trip to William & Mary on Tuesday night, falling 5-2 to the Tribe at Plumeri Park.
The Buff & Blue got on the board first via a two-out RBI infield single from Michael Kohn in the top of the third, but were unable to add on with the bags packed.
William & Mary countered with two runs in the home half of the frame to take a 2-1 lead and added single tallies in the fourth and fifth to extend the cushion to 4-1.
GW had a golden opportunity to rally back in the top of the sixth inning, loading the bases with nobody out. However, the Colonials were only able to push across one run on a sac fly from Bryan Belo sandwiched between a pair of strikeouts.
W&M added a run in the home half of the seventh and GW went quietly against the Tribe bullpen to drop the mid-week affair.
Offensively, Eddie Micheletti went 1-for-3 to extend his hitting streak to a team-season-best 11 games. Steve DiTomaso and Tim Nicholson notched multi-hit affairs.
GW will now return home for a three-game A-10 set against first-place Davidson this weekend at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park. First pitch in Friday's series opener is scheduled for 3 p.m., with live coverage on ESPN+.
