Buff & Blue look for mid-week triumph in lone meeting with Tribe
WASHINGTON - GW baseball will trek to Williamsburg, Va., on Tuesday for a mid-week contest vs. William & Mary. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. with live coverage available on FloSports.
OVER THE WEEKEND: GW won its second-straight A-10 series to improve to 6-6 overall in the loop. The Buff & Blue won the opener and finale of the set vs. VCU thanks to some impressive pitching performances. On Friday, Logan Koester lasted eight frames, ceding just two runs in GW's 9-2 triumph. On Sunday, Chris Kahler tossed his second-straight complete game, carrying a no-hitter into the sixth inning before finishing things off with 10 strikeouts in a 3-2 victory.
MASHING MICHELETTI: Eddie Micheletti hit .600 in four games last week for the Buff & Blue, extending his hitting streak to 10 games, which includes nine consecutive mulit-hit affairs. Micheletti is 21-for-43 (.488) during the run, which began on April 9 vs. Richmond. He has picked up four doubles, three home runs, 16 runs scored and 16 RBI in the last 10 games, having scored at least one run in nine-straight and driven in at least one run in seven-consecutive games.
ABOUT WILLIAM & MARY: The Tribe come into Tuesday's action at 24-17 overall and 9-9 in CAA play, but have dropped four-straight games, including a weekend sweep at the hands of North Carolina A&T. W&M boasts the second-best ERA in the CAA, and 14th nationally, at 3.83 while they put up 7.7 runs per game, 63rd in the NCAA.
Ben Williamson is hitting .404 for the Tribe, the 13th-best average in the country. He is also in the top 100 nationally in on-base percentage (.524, 15th) and slugging percentage (.689, 90th).
