Colonials look for first A-10 series victory vs. Rams
WASHINGTON - GW baseball is off to New York City this weekend for a three-game Atlantic 10 series vs. Fordham. First pitch on Friday is set for 3 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. start on Saturday and noon first pitch on Sunday. Friday and Sunday's games will air on ESPN+ with ESPN3 having the coverage Saturday.
IN THE MID-WEEK: The Buff & Blue split their two mid-week clashes with CAA foes, defeating Towson, 12-1, on Tuesday before falling to Delaware, 8-3, on Wednesday. As he has done most of the year, Eddie Micheletti paced the Colonials at the dish, going 4-for-9 in the two contests with three runs scored.
KOESTER IN COMMAND: GW has opened both of its A-10 series with Friday victories thanks, in part, to the performances on the hill from Logan Koester. The redshirt junior is one of just six hurlers to pick up a pair of wins in A-10 play through two weekends and has thrown 14.0 innings in his two starts, second-most in the league.
Koester is coming off his second 8.0-inning performance of the season last Friday vs. Richmond when he allowed only two runs on seven hits with four strikeouts.
A LOOK AT THE RAMS: Fordham sits in a similar position to GW entering the weekend at 13-20 overall and 2-4 in league play after dropping two out of three at Davidson and last weekend at home vs. Rhode Island. The Rams are 10th in the league in hitting at .252 and ninth in the circuit with a staff ERA of 7.38.
Three Rams are hitting over .300 on the season - Tommy McAndrews, Daniel Bucciero and Zach Sellinger with Sellinger pacing the team with six homers.
