Buff & Blue turn attention to A-10 series at Fordham this weekend
Delaware started quick, loading the bases with nobody out in the first inning and ultimately scoring a pair of runs to take a 2-0 lead. GW got a run back in the bottom half via a passed ball, but saw the Blue Hens come right back with a two-run homer in the top of the second.
Anthony Frechette drove a run in with a sacrifice fly in the home half of the third, but Delaware responded with solo homers in the fourth and fifth to extend the cushion back to 6-2.
Steve DiTomaso provided a highlight offensively GW with a launched solo shot off the videoboard in the bottom of the fifth for his third dinger of the year.
Delaware, though, kept GW at arm's length with two more tallies in the seventh and silenced the Buff & Blue the rest of the way to earn the win.
Carter Welch earned the win for the visitors with seven impressive innings, allowing just two earned run on six hits.
GW got some solid performances from its bullpen, namely Brayden Kurtz with a scoreless seventh inning, working around a bases-loaded situation and Colton Trisch, who authored two scoreless frames with two strikeouts in his second career appearance.
The Buff & Blue will now turn their attention to a road conference series at Fordham beginning on Friday at 3 p.m. on ESPN+.
