Colonials and Jaspers set for three-game series at The Tuck
WASHINGTON - GW baseball will square off with Manhattan this weekend in its final non-conference series of the season. The Colonials and Jaspers will open the series Saturday afternoon with a 2 p.m. first pitch, followed by a doubleheader Sunday beginning at 11am. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.
SENIOR LEADERSHIP: Senior Steve DiTomaso has been a consistent presence for the Buff & Blue at the dish this season, ranking second on the team in average (.320), hits (31) and total bases (43). He's third on the team with 13 RBI and is one of just four Colonials who has started every game. Recently, DiTomaso has put together a seven-game hitting streak, the second-longest on the team this season behind Eddie Micheletti's nine-gamer from earlier in the season.
KAHLER IN CONTROL: Junior Chris Kahler tossed another quality start last weekend vs. Niagara, allowing just one run in six innings with seven strikeouts. Kahler has allowed two earned runs or fewer in four of his five starts and paces the squad with a 2.87 ERA this season, a mark that ranks sixth in the A-10. Kahler is also third in the conference with 31 strikeouts, punching out at least six in four of his five outings.
ABOUT MANHATTAN: The Jaspers are 6-12 on the year following a weekend sweep at Hartford over the weekend. Manhattan will be the third school from the MAAC that has appeared on GW's schedule this season, joining Niagara and Fairfield. As a team, Manhattan holds a .243 batting average and a 7.87 ERA through the first month-plus of the year. Daniel Perez and Jacob Radziewicz both hit over .300 for the Jaspers, who visit for the first time since 2019.
