Colonials battle Purple Eagles at The Tuck
WASHINGTON - GW baseball continues its non-conference slate with a three-game series this weekend vs. Niagara. Friday's game will be streamed on ESPN+ with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. followed by matchups on Saturday (1 p.m.) and Sunday (12 p.m.).
DOUBLE TROUBLE: Michael Kohn cranked three doubles in Wednesday's game, giving him 10 for the season, third-most in the country. Kohn is second on the team with his .343 average with 13 of his 23 base hits going for extra bases (10 2B, 3 HR). He tops the squad with a .647 slugging percentage and is second in runs (14) and RBI (14).
KOESTER IN CONTROL: Friday starter Logan Koester has shown the propensity to pitch deep into games this season, reaching at least the seventh inning in each of his last three starts. Koester tossed an eight-inning complete game at McNeese, allowing just two runs and followed that up last week with seven strong against Binghamton, yielding only two earned runs.
ABOUT THE PURPLE EAGLES: Niagara is 6-6 on the year after a victory over Oregon on Wednesday to wrap up a five-game West Coast swing. The Purple Eagles have already split a series with George Mason earlier this season. Through 12 games, Niagara is third in the MAAC with 6.3 runs per game and fourth with a 6.84 ERA.
Max Giordano hits a team-best .349 with four homers and 15 RBI ranking among the MAAC's top three in home runs and RBI per game.
