Micheletti collects two more hits and three more RBI
ARLINGTON, Va. - On a dreary day at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park, GW and Binghamton battled each other and the elements in the opener of their three-game series. Unfortunately for the home side, five errors spelled trouble as the Bearcats came away with a 7-4 triumph.
Four of Binghamton's seven runs on the day were unearned, including the opening tally in the top of the first on a dropped fly ball. The Bearcats plated three more in the third (one earned) after a pair of errors and a wild pitch, increasing the lead to 4-0.
The errors spoiled what was otherwise a solid start for Logan Koester, who logged seven innings on the hill, allowing five runs (two earned) on six hits with five strikeouts.
GW nibbled its way back into the game with two runs in the home half of the sixth via an Eddie Micheletti RBI single and an Alexander Wright sac fly. After Binghamton stretched the lead back to three, Micheletti drove in two more with a double in the home half of the seventh, making it 5-4.

However, the Bearcats added another unearned run in the eighth and an extra insurance tally in the ninth to deny GW the comeback triumph.
Micheletti continued his strong week with a 2-for-5 showing, driving in three of the Colonials' four runs. Sam Gates collected three knocks and scored twice while Noah Levin added a pair of hits and reached base three times.
Thomas Babalis started and earned the win for the visitors, authoring 5.1 innings on the hill, allowing two runs on five hits with six strikeouts.
The two teams will square off again on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. A live stream will be available on ESPN+.
