Baseball Falls After JMU Rallies, 10-8

Third baseman and cleanup hitter Brett Young got things started for the visitors in the top of the second, socking his first tater of the season to stake GW to an early lead. James Madison quickly struck back with three of their own in the bottom half of the frame. After an Eddie Micheletti double plated Steve DiTomaso to cut the deficit in half, senior slugger Noah Levin stepped to the plate with two aboard and smashed a three-run dinger to right to put GW up 5-3, only to see the home club tie it again in the bottom of the third.
The game went to fifth tied at five when Young and Levin did more damage. First Young gave GDUB the lead back with an RBI groundout, before Levin wielded his thunder stick again. This time it was a two-run home run, his third of the season, scoring DiTomaso and giving his team the 8-5 lead.
Levin finished 3-for-4 on the day with two runs scored and five RBI, while Young scored twice, drove in a pair and also drew two walks. DiTomaso was all over the bases Tuesday in his four-hit game, including a double.
Looking to regain its winning form, GW travels to McNeese State in Lake Charles, La., for a three-game set this weekend. First pitch comes on Friday night at 7 p.m., followed by 3 p.m. and noon start times on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
