Colonials and Cowboys tangle in three-game series
WASHINGTON - GW baseball will visit Lake Charles, La., this weekend for a three-game series with the McNeese State Cowboys. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET with a 3 p.m. first pitch on Saturday and noon start on Sunday.
KOHN NAMED A-10 PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Graduate student Michael Kohn earned his first conference weekly award in just his second week with the Buff & Blue, slashing .538/ .647 / 1.154 in four games for GW last week. He accumulated seven hits, including two doubles and two homers, four runs and seven RBI.
The Rockville, Md., native started the week by going a perfect 3-for-3 with a homer, two runs scored and two RBI vs. UMES on Wednesday. Then in the series opener vs. Fairfield, Kohn cranked his second homer in as many games as part of a 2-for-4 day at the dish with three RBI. Kohn added a double in each game of Sunday's doubleheader, driving in two in the series finale.
KAHLER BACK ON THE BUMP: Chris Kahler is scheduled to start Sunday for the Colonials after his complete-game victory over Fairfield last Sunday. Kahler became the first GW hurler to toss nine innings since 2020 and struck out eight Stags while limiting Fairfield to two runs on six hits in the process.
Through two starts, Kahler holds a 1.88 ERA that ranks fourth in the A-10. He's also second in the loop with 14 punchouts and fourth in WHIP at 0.77.
