Baseball Faces Georgetown in Midweek Clash

The Colonials and Hoyas will meet Tuesday night at the Nats Youth Baseball Academy
WASHINGTON - George Washington baseball returns to non-conference action Tuesday when it travels to Southeast Washington, D.C. to face off with crosstown rival Georgetown at the Nats Youth Baseball Academy. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT:
GW cranked out 13 hits and overcame an early deficit in a 7-6 victory against the Richmond Spiders on Sunday. The victory gave the Colonials a series win over their A-10 rivals, and pushed the Buff & Blue to 7-5 in conference play.
LET IT RIPP:
Derek Ripp was GW's offensive hero during its three games in Richmond. The first baseman compiled an impressive .500/.571/.583 slashline with five RBIs and two runs scored during the series.
Ripp has enjoyed tremendous offensive success through the season's first 39 games. The redshirt senior is batting .307 with 43 hits and 25 RBIs, and is on pace to set new career-highs in hits, runs, and RBIs.

Over the weekend, GW scored first in two of its three games, continuing a season-long trend. The Buff & Blue has scored first in 24 of its 39 games, and boasts a 16-8 record this season when drawing first blood. The Colonials' offense has been at its best in the first inning, where they've outscored opponents 33-17. Additionally, GW is 12-6 when scoring in the first inning.

Tuesday will be the second of three meetings this season between the Colonials and Hoyas. The two sides met one month ago at Tucker Field with GW upending its rival in comeback fashion. Facing a 7-1 deficit in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Colonials scored 10 unanswered runs to complete an 11-7 victory.
