Chris Kahler strikes out four in 1.2 innings of relief
WASHINGTON - George Washington baseball was unable to find its offensive groove on Tuesday, mustering four hits in a 3-1 loss to Georgetown at the Nats Youth Baseball Academy.
GW jumped out to an early lead in the top of second on Tuesday, bringing a run home when Logan Leax scored on an RBI groundout by Jon Bruno.
Unfortunately, just one inning later Jake Hyde launched a two-run home run to right centerfield to put Georgetown up 2-1. The Hoyas would add another insurance run in the bottom of the fifth, and their pitching took care of the rest.
Georgetown threw nine different pitchers on Tuesday, with each toeing the rubber for one of the game's nine innings. The Hoyas' staff struck out 12 Colonials, while allowing just two walks.
Despite the result, the Buff & Blue also received strong relief pitching on Tuesday night. Chris Kahler struck out four over 1.2 dominant innings, while Chris Knight and Joe Biancone threw scoreless frames.
Up next, GW will welcome Rhode Island to Tucker Field for its first home series in two weeks. First pitch for Friday's contest is scheduled for 3 p.m. with coverage available on ESPN+.
