Colonials host UMBC, UMES at the Tuck

TOP TIER TOEING OF THE RUBBER:
TOP TIER TOEING OF THE RUBBER:
In GW's last series against Hofstra, the Colonials pitching turned up in a huge way. Over 32 innings against the Pride, the Buff & Blue's staff allowed just four runs while striking out 26 batters. Additionally, GW only walked two batters the entire weekend.
All three GW starters had strong outings against the Pride. Redshirt junior Harrison Cohen had his best start of the year on Friday, striking out eight while allowing just three hits across eight innings. Connor Harris took the mound for GW in game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader and was equally impressive, tossing 8.1 innings while not allowing a walk. Finally, Justin Solt brought the Colonials' staff home in game 2 of the twin bill, hurling 7.1 shutout innings and punching out eight.
ANTHONY DOES IT ALL:
In Sunday's doubleheader against Hofstra, Anthony Frechette showed off his iron man skills when he caught all 23 innings of action. While the Colonials' catcher has shown off his durability, having been behind the plate in all but one game this season, Frechette has also shown off his offensive chops. The senior is currently third on the team with a .302 batting average, and sits in the top five in hits (13), walks (7), RBIs (5), and on-base percentage (.385).
SCOUTING THE RETRIEVERS:
UMBC enters Tuesday's contest at 7-7 on the season, but the Retrievers have been on a tear lately with six wins in their last seven games. In its last game, UMBC dropped a season-high 17 runs in the second game of a doubleheader against Mount St. Mary's. Leading the team offensively is graduate student Myles Nicholson. Nicholson will enter Tuesday hitting .453 with 10 RBIs and a 1.219 OPS.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS:
UMES arrives at the Tuck Wednesday having gotten off to a rough start. The Hawks are currently 1-10 and have been outscored 102-50. Graduate student Dillion Oxyer and junior Ryan Howe have been the standout performers offensively for UMES. Oxyer is hitting .333 with four doubles, while Howe has a .313 average with six RBIs and one home run.
