Colonials host Tribe in first of two meetings this year
WASHINGTON - GW baseball is back at the Tuck this Tuesday to open an eight-game homestand, welcoming in William & Mary for a 2:30 p.m. first pitch.
OVER THE WEEKEND: The Colonials battled one of the nation's last remaining unbeatens in #19 Tennessee, but fell in all three games. GW held an early lead on both Friday and Saturday before being blanked on Sunday. The Buff & Blue will not play another road series until visiting La Salle in the first weekend of April.
HOME SWEET HOME: Tuesday's game begins a string of eight straight home games for GW in a home-heavy month of March. The Colonials will have a pair of eight-game homestands this month, playing 16 of their 18 contests on their home turf in total. The Buff & Blue are 5-1 thus far at Barcroft Park and are coming off a 21-11 home campaign a year ago.
BACK TO HIS OLD TRICKS: Reigning A-10 Rookie of the Year Noah Levin extended his hitting streak to five in a row with four hits over the weekend at Tennessee. Levin has been GW's top offensive weapon this year, hitting .361/.511/.444 with a team-leading 10 RBI. His four multi-hit games are tied for the most on the squad, while his current five-game hitting streak is the second-longest this year (Tyler Hix, 8).
ABOUT THE TRIBE: William & Mary is 4-7 on the season following a 1-2 weekend, falling to Wagner (5-4) and West Virginia (13-4) before bouncing back with a 13-2 win over Georgetown on Sunday. Brandon Raquet is the team's top offensive threat, leading the Tribe in five different categories, including an .825 slugging percentage.
The two teams split the season series a year ago, each winning on their respective home fields. GW will visit Williamsburg on St. Patrick's Day for the back end of this year's home-and-home.
