
GW Men’s Tennis Takes on District Rival Friday

Colonials look to continue their strong play from last weekend
WASHINGTON – GW men's tennis is set to battle District foe Georgetown this Friday in College Park, Md. First serve is at 9 a.m.
LAST TIME OUT: The Colonials had a successful trip to Ohio, beating A-10 Conference opponent Dayton, 4-3, and Xavier, 5-2. Against Dayton, Lawrence Sciglitano and Jakub Behun were victorious in doubles at the #2 spot and Hanyu Liu and Ethan Jacobs provided a win at the #3 spot helping the Colonials secure the doubles point. Jacobs, Behun and Sciglitano also provided three pivotal singles wins.
In their match with Xavier, Lawrence Sciglitano, Hanyu Liu, Zicheng Zeng, Ethan Jacobs and Ben Barnett won the singles points for GW, pushing them to victory. Zeng, Jacobs and Barnett toughed out their victories going the distance in three-set matches.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: The strong play from Sciglitano earned him A-10 Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors. This marks his first career accolade and the first for the Colonials this season.
ABOUT THE HOYAS: The Hoyas currently have a record of 4-4 for the season. Their four wins include a 7-0 sweep over Hampton and a 4-3 victory over Big East Conference opponent Xavier. The Colonials boast an impressive 11-3 record against the Hoyas. The last match played between these two teams was on February 8, 2019, where Georgetown prevailed 4-3.
