Colonials battle A-10 foe Dayton on Friday night
WASHINGTON -Â GW men's tennis is set to take on a pair of foes in Ohio this weekend, beginning with the second A-10 match of the year on Friday night at Dayton at 7 p.m. The Colonials will also take on Xavier on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Sunday's previously scheduled match at Wright State has been canceled.
LAST TIME OUT:Â The Colonials ran into a pair of hot teams last weekend in Virginia, falling at William & Mary and Old Dominion. Sophomore Ryan Navarro earned a point with his singles win against the Tribe, while sophomores Zicheng Zeng and Ben Barnett were victorious at #1 doubles against the Monarchs.
ABOUT THE FLYERS:Â Dayton is 3-5 on the young campaign following a victory over IUPUI last weekend. Like GW, UD is 1-0 in the A-10 with a victory over Duquesne. The Colonials are looking to exact revenge on the Flyers after being eliminated by UD in the quarterfinals of last year's A-10 tournament. Georgi Mavrodiev has been Dayton's top singles player, going 5-0 between playing #4 and #6.
ABOUT THE MUSKETEERS:Â GW and Xavier renew acquaintances for the first time since the 2012 A-10 Championship, won by the Colonials in what was the second of five A-10 titles in six years. This season, the Musketeers are 4-5 following a loss at Indiana on Monday. Playing at #1, Brett Winters owns XU's best singles mark at 5-4 on the season.
