Men's Tennis Heads to Florida for Three Matches

Colonials to battle FAU, FGCU and USF as part of Spring Break trip
WASHINGTON -Â GW men's tennis returns to action for the first time in a week with a three-matches-in-three-days stretch in the Sunshine State this weekend. The Colonials will battle #48 Florida Atlantic on Saturday at 12:30 p.m., followed by Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday at noon, and will wrap up the Spring Break trip at South Florida on Monday at 1:30 p.m.
GAINING STEAM:Â The Colonials moved to 2-0 in A-10 play with a decisive 5-2 triumph at Duquesne last Saturday. First-years Ben Barnett and Zicheng Zeng were victorious as a pair in doubles and individually as singles in the victory. The duo rides a two-game winning streak as a doubles pair while each has won two in a row in singles.
BREAKING IN:Â First-year Michael Barsky saw his first dual meet action last time out at Duquesne, earning the victory at #6 singles. Barsky appeared in nine singles matches during the fall tournament season, registering a 4-5 record.
ABOUT THE OWLS:Â FAU enters the weekend at #48 in the national rankings, the first ranked foe GW has encountered this season. The Owls are 9-7 on the year, snapping a two-game skid with a 4-3 win at Georgia State on Tuesday. GW and FAU last met in 2017, a 4-1 win for the Owls.
ABOUT THE EAGLES:Â GW and FGCU match up for the first time in two years since the Colonials claimed a 5-2 triumph in Fort Myers. This year's Eagles are 3-5 following a 7-0 loss to nationally-ranked Penn State on Wednesday. FGCU welcomes VCU to town Friday before hosting GW.
ABOUT THE BULLS:Â South Florida and GW match up for the second straight year after the Bulls earned a 6-1 win last season. USF is 6-4 on the year, led by Alberto Barroso-Campos, who ranks 28th nationally in singles and pairs with Pierre Luquet to rank 77th nationally in doubles. Prior to hosting GW Monday, USF will host #38 Tulane on Friday and #4 Virginia on Saturday.
