Colonials to face third-straight A-10 opponent
WASHINGTON -Â The GW men's tennis team will head to fellow A-10 rival Fordham for a 1 p.m. matchup on Saturday in the team's second road conference match of the season.
LAST TIME OUT:Â The Colonials battled to a 1-1 mark last weekend, defeating George Mason, 5-2, before falling, 6-1, to VCU. Against the Patriots, first-years Zicheng Zeng and Ryan Navarro earned straight-set wins at #1 and #2 singles, while junior Dennis Afanasev won 12-10 in the third set at #4 and first-year Michael Barsky dropped only three games in his win at #6.
Zeng provided the point against VCU with a win at #1 singles.
ABOUT FORDHAM:Â The Rams are 10-4 this season and 3-1 in Atlantic 10 play, having defeated La Salle, Duquesne and Saint Louis. Prior to facing the Colonials on Saturday, Fordham swept a match from Rider on Wednesday.
SERIES HISTORY:Â The Colonials and Rams have not squared off since April 2017, when GW claimed a 6-1 victory over the visitors at the Trump National Golf Club. This is GW's first visit to the Bronx since 2012.
