PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. - The George Washington baseball team got the go-ahead run to the plate in the top of the ninth inning but was unable to break through in a 3-0 loss in the series opener at Villanova on Thursday afternoon.
Villanova's Jonathan Rosero worked a complete-game shutout, allowing just four hits on the afternoon, with one walk and four strikeouts.
GW loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the ninth on a two-out walk by senior Andrew Selby, an infield single by senior Bobby Campbell and a hit batter, but Rosero got the final out on a strikeout to turn away the threat.
The Colonials will aim to even the non-conference series in game two on Friday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
